JMeter in English

What is JMeter?>

What is JMeter? #

The Apache JMeter application is an open-source software developed 100% in the Java programming language.

JMeter was designed to perform load testing on servers or web applications using the HTTP protocol, but due to its popularity, it was expanded to include other communication protocols. JMeter was developed by Stefano Mazzocchi to address the load and stress testing needs of the Apache JServ project, which was later replaced by the Apache Tomcat project. In November 2011, JMeter was recognized as a top-level project by the Apache Foundation and was assigned a dedicated website.

Today, it is considered the most popular load tool, and that is why we want to work on its promotion, correct use, and mentoring.

Although JMeter is a tool designed to generate load, performance can also be measured through the collaboration of external tools such as APM (Application Performance Management). This combination can be extremely important for establishing and configuring alerts or critical consumption thresholds.

Mobile Devices>

Mobile Devices #

Mobile devices typically exchange data and information through HTTP requests to web services or microservices, so JMeter can simulate these types of transactions and therefore perform load and stress tests on mobile applications.

Limitations and Opportunities>

Limitations and Opportunities #

JMeter has limited functionality for generating graphs, but there are add-ons ( JMeter Plugins) that can help us generate more specific graphs, which could be the ideal complement to any results report.

JMeter Does Not Render>

JMeter Does Not Render #

JMeter is not a browser, it is a tool that simulates requests at the HTTP protocol level, therefore, it does not compile the embedded code of the pages. The main reason is that the engine that executes these requests is limited, but quite efficient, allowing us to simulate hundreds of users with limited resources.
