Leandro Meléndez

aka Señor Performo

Hello everyone, starting with a greeting from Mexico City, where the first place in the world for worst traffic.

Laborally speaking, I started working in IT in 2000 as a capture and advanced roles in IT such as developer, network installation implementation CCNA DBA analyst development queries for data mining returning to application development services windows services web beans until Flash applications. After that, I had a small promotion obtaining the PMP project leader sales and finally became account manager offering software development projects for companies mainly in CDMX but some interesting projects in Brazil with Merrill Lynch Bloomberg Barclays.

After 2009 I was hired in an company in Saltillo that did something rare called testing, which had created a new technology to automate SAP called Accelerators, which later would be bought by SAP and is now known as SAP TAO. They attracted me with the promise of being an international consultant and traveling all over the world, to which I immediately said yes, without knowing much about that testing thing. Due to my technical background, someone decided that I was going to be a performance engineer and began training me in LoadRunner so basically I would be a scripter who understood more or less the process and life cycle of project testing for load.

In the midst of global economic crisis, there wasn’t much work as a performance engineer so I spent almost half a year doing manual testing, test plans, and test cases; functional automation with UFT (now QTP) and customizations to ALM. My first project in performance was creating the largest where virtual users played Scrabble against each other to load a video game server.

Since then, over the past 10 years, I have been performing performance testing with almost any tool that crosses my path, applying tests to multiple systems from web, SAP, Siebel, RDC, Citrix, even custom development projects with specific protocols for the test; as well as designing project plans, test plans, and leading teams of performance and TCOEs testing.

In 2017 I started a blog creating the figure of Sr Performo in an effort to educate people on gabacho and correct many vices of the industry by writing about best practices, explaining basic concepts, and addressing some conferences. At one conference I met Mark Tomlinson who apparently followed the Blog and offered me to make the Spanish version of PerfBytes. In February 2019 it was launched a podcast with decent traction and some good followers. At the same time, I started making presentations at conferences, webinars, and sessions. There has also been good feedback, and I believe we will continue doing that in the upcoming presentation at Tricentis Accelerate in Vienna.

You can find me on the blog page, as well as in Spanish version, work in progress, at twitter, facebook, linkedin and instagram as Mr. Performo, as well as perfbytes in Spanish.

Thank you very much, until here my report, Joaquín.
